Yancey Media Group For Immediate Release May 14th, 2012 – Detroit, MI J. Dilla’s ‘Rebirth of Detroit’ Listening Party / D.E.M.F. Weekend @ The Magic Stick in Detroit Hosted by Yancey Media Group Friday May 25th, 2012 On Friday May 25th, 2012 the Magic Stick will host the listening party for J Dilla’s ‘Rebirth of Detroit’ . The event is produced by the Yancey Media Group, a business formed by Maureen (Ma Dukes) Yancey for all future works of J Dilla within his family, their structure, imaging, and likeness. Contractually confirmed performers for the event include DJ Skurge of Underground Resistance, DJ Spinna, Kai Alce, Waajeed, DJ TJ the King (DJ for Jay Electronica & Denaun Porter), DJ Dez, Guilty Simpson, Bishop Lamont, and legendary Motown Arranger/Producer McKinley Jackson (father of legendary Detroit Emcee Proof) with his new group, the Philanthropists of Soul. Dave New York and Piper Carter will host the event. The occasion will also document the first release from Maureen Yancey’s newly formed RUFF DRAFT RECORDS. The label will focus on proper documentation of J Dilla’s prodigous catalog, along with other original music releases. Ruff Draft Records will release a limited edition 10 inch vinyl of J Dilla produced tracks ‘Jay Dee’s Revenge’ w/ Danny Brown, and ‘Birthright’ w/ Big Tone, Guilty Simpson, and Finale. On the same evening Mahogani Music/Moodymann Records will also release the ‘DILLATROIT/REBIRTH’ promotional limited edition 12 inch vinyl, as a prequel of the June 12th release of the ‘Rebirth of Detroit’. At midnight on the night of this event, the digital release of ‘Jay Dee’s Revenge’ and ‘Birthright’ will be released via I Tunes. On May 7th, www.OFFICIALJDILLA.com will launch.
